Father of Elizabeth Smart Says He’s Gay, Leaving the Mormon Church

In a private message to family and friend, Ed Smart – father of Elizabeth Smart – announced that he was a homosexual and was leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In 2002, Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her Utah home. Miraculously found nine months later, having been traumatized and abused by her captors, the young woman made what many have characterized as an amazing recovery. The ordeal has been told over and again as a story of human resilience. As the story has been told in major media, the Smart’s family religion of Mormonism has played an important role.

Since at least 2016, however, Elizabeth has been challenging the way the Mormon church views “purity,” or this is how it has been characterized by the opponents of “purity culture.” Essentially, the narrative has been that Elizabeth was reluctant to leave her captor (and/or escape) because she believed that, having been sexually abused, she would be worth less to God or her community. Clearly, if that was Elizabeth’s presumption, it was tragic.

Enemies of purity culture have spiked the football on Elizabeth’s perceived challenges to Mormon teaching on the subject, and eager to pin her abuse somehow back on her religious upbringing.

Adding fuel to the fire, Elizabeth’s father had acknowledged he’s a sodomite and is leaving the LDS church.

According to the Utah Deseret News, Ed wrote…

In one of the hardest letters I have ever written, I have recently acknowledged to myself and my family that I am gay. The decision to be honest and truthful about my orientation comes with its own set of challenges, but at the same time, it is a huge relief…Living with the pain and guilt I have for so many years, not willing to accept the truth about my orientation has at times brought me to the point where I questioned whether life was still worth living.”

Smart went on to say that he was leaving the LDS ‘church.’

“As an openly gay man, the church is not a place where I find solace any longer. It is not my responsibility to tell the church, its members or its leadership what to believe about the rightness or wrongness of being LGBTQ.”

Smart went on to say, “I have come to the conclusion that it was never my Savior’s intent to change me from the way I was born.”

Here is the problem with false religions and false doctrine in the supposed Christian denominations. THEY DO NOT KNOW SCRIPTURE! They do not know what the Bible says and why Jesus came to this earth. First, They are ignorant and blinded by the god of this world system.

2nd Corinthians 4:3-5 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

 The phrase “god of this world” (or “god of this age”) indicates that Satan is the major influence on the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and views of the majority of people. His influence also encompasses the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce. The thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions of the world are under his control and have sprung from his lies and deceptions.

Satan is also called the “prince of the power of the air” in Ephesians 2:2. He is the “ruler of this world” in John 12:31. These titles and many more signify Satan’s capabilities. To say, for example, that Satan is the “prince of the power of the air” is to signify that in some way he rules over the world and the people in it.

This is not to say that he rules the world completely; God is still sovereign. But it does mean that God, in His infinite wisdom, has allowed Satan to operate in this world within the boundaries God has set for him. When the Bible says Satan has power over the world, we must remember that God has given him domain over unbelievers only. Believers are no longer under the rule of Satan (Colossians 1:13). Unbelievers, on the other hand, are caught “in the snare of the devil” (2 Timothy 2:26), lie in the “power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19), and are in bondage to Satan (Ephesians 2:2).

So, when the Bible says that Satan is the “god of this world,” it is not saying that he has ultimate authority. It is conveying the idea that Satan rules over the unbelieving world in a specific way. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, the unbeliever follows Satan’s agenda: “The god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.” Satan’s scheme includes promoting false philosophies in the world—philosophies that blind the unbeliever to the truth of the Gospel. Satan’s philosophies are the fortresses in which people are imprisoned, and they must be set free by Christ.

An example of one such false philosophy is the belief that man can earn God’s favor by a certain act or acts. In almost every false religion, meriting God’s favor or earning eternal life is a predominant theme. Earning salvation by works, however, is contrary to biblical revelation. Man cannot work to earn God’s favor; eternal life is a free gift (see Ephesians 2:8-9). And that free gift is available through Jesus Christ and Him alone (John 3:16; 14:6). You may ask why mankind does not simply receive the free gift of salvation (John 1:12). The answer is that Satan—the god of this world—has tempted mankind to follow his pride instead. Second they have no idea what it is to be Born Again as scripture teaches. They rely on  the Book of Mormon!

The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of the Jews). Nicodemus had come to Jesus at night with some questions.

As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said, “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born again”’” (John 3:3-7).

The phrase “ born again” literally means “born from above.” Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart—a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:5; 1st Peter 1:3; 1st John 2:29; 1st John 3:9; 1st John 4:7; 1st John 5:1-4 1st John 1:18). John 1:12-13 indicates that being “ born again” also carries the idea of “becoming children of God” through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.

The question logically comes, “Why does a person need to be born again?” The apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins” (NKJV). To the Romans he wrote, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sinners are spiritually “dead”; when they receive spiritual life through faith in Christ, the Bible likens it to a rebirth. Only those who are born again have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.

How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8-9 states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” When one is saved, he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is the means to be “ born again.” “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

If you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, will you consider the prompting of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to your heart? You need to be born again. Will you pray the prayer of repentance and become a new creation in Christ today? “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God” (John 1:12-13). There is NO PROTECTION from demons coming in, and in this case homosexual demons! If you are NOT Born Again and the Holy Spirit is NOT present in and dwells within you, then enemy has a right to come and afflict you due to the Sin Nature that is handed down to you. 

At the same time if you are Born Again, the Blood of Jesus symbolically comes all over you, washes all your Sins away, cleanses you and protects you as long as you keep your Faith totally in Jesus and what he did for you on the Cross. Any deviation from that allows Satan ground to come in and gain control of your mind.

That reader is WHY you see so many problems in the Supposed Christian Church! People are into every fad and idiocy that come down the pipe. They DO NOT know Jesus Christ and are NOT Born Again!!
